Every Instagram account has a number that never changes. The @handle can be sold, dropped or stolen; the number stays. Put in a username and get the ID.
Why the number matters more than the name
A username is rented. Change it and every old link to you breaks, and the name you dropped can be taken by somebody else the same day. That is the mechanic behind most impersonation: the familiar handle, a different account behind it. The numeric ID is the account's real identity and survives every rename.
So if you deal with an account that matters, a supplier, a client, a creator you pay, write down the ID once. Comparing it later is the cheapest fraud check there is.

Can I go the other way, from ID to username?
Not with this tool. That lookup is the one every scraper abuses, and it is the reason Instagram closed most public access in the first place.
Does it work for private accounts?
Yes. The ID, like the picture and the bio, is public on every account.
Does the ID ever change?
No. Delete the account and the ID goes with it, but it is never reassigned or edited.
